Palmer Library is proud to report on its first ever Summer Reading Program Fun Run! On Thursday, July 14th, 82 kids and 56 adults participated in a 1 mile race. The race course began and ended at the library and stretched around neighboring blocks. The weather was beautiful and spirits were high as race time began.

To serve our smallest racers, a 1/3 mile course was available and kicked off our festivities. Winning time for that course came in at just over 2:00! A few minutes later, the 1 mile race began. SRP teen Volunteer, Lucas Fisher won the race in just under 8:00. Way to go, Lucas! Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers from each course and all participants were treated to water bottles, PowerAde, race bibs, medals and more thanks to FRIENDS of the Palmer Library and Healthy Futures out of Anchorage.

The success of this race is due to the diligence of our SRP Assistant, Alisha Asplund as well as the several volunteers who lent a hand. THANK YOU to each of them for keeping the race safe and the atmosphere fun.
