Our Digital Catalog To access our digital catalog, click the ListenAlaska button. Your library card number will give you access. Our digital collection is different from our physical collection, and though your accounts are linked, you have separate item limits for each one. While you may have 20 physical items on your card, you may have 10 ListenAlaska items at one time, which do not count as part of your regular checkout limit. You cannot accrue fines on your ListenAlaska account; your items will automatically expire.

Renewing Your Books
If you wish to keep your items longer than the regular checkout period, (see our policies page regarding checkout periods) you may renew them either in person, over the phone, or online.
Note that the item renews from the day you renewed it, not the day it was due.
Also, if an item has holds on it, you cannot renew.
Call us at 745-4690 (Palmer Public Library).
If we are not open, you can call one of the other Borough libraries and they can renew your items.
Renewing in Person:
Once items have reached their renewal limit, you must physically bring them in to library staff.
Placing a Hold
When you place a hold on a book, you are requesting that an item in our system be set aside for you. If the item is on the shelf, it will be pulled the next morning. If the item is currently checked out, you will be notified as soon as it comes in. You can request any eligible item that is in our system (catalog), even items that are at other libraries. They will be sent to the library of your choice for pickup.
Once the items arrive at the pickup library, you will receive notification either by email, if you have an email address on your account, or by phone, if you do not. You have seven working days from the time of notification to pickup your hold. If you do not pick it up, the hold will automatically release for the next person on the waiting list.
The MSLN limits the number of patron holds to three per card at one time. Some items are not eligible for hold (such as reference books, new items outside your home library, or microfilm).
To place a hold, find the item you wish to be held for you in our catalog. If there are multiple records for the item, it is to your advantage to choose a record that has MatSu Borough libraries under the "Owning Libraries" section. They usually come faster and follow MSLN policies regarding fines, due dates, and damages.
Joint Library Catalog
As of October 28, 2014, the Palmer Public Library has joined the Joint Library Catalog. This enlarged our network considerably, and gave our patrons access to more resources throughout the state.
As a result of this merge, any MatSu Library Network card will work at any of the other libraries in the JLC. This includes:
You can place holds on materials at other libraries and return materials from any library in the network to any other library in the network.
If you check out an item from another library, you are required to follow the policies of the library that owns that item regarding due dates, fines, grace periods, and damages.
To see a list of other libraries' fines, see this document.
