Welcome to our fun page! We love to mix things up here at the Palmer Library. Stop in and say hello! You're welcome to join in our antics too. Stop in the library in your themed costume, and we'll put your photo on our slide show! See what's coming up, as well as slideshows of past amusements below.
Our final dress up day for winter was May 20. The Disney theme brought out Ursula, 3 of the original Mousketeers, and Eeyore!
We can't pass up an opportunity to show our geeky side around here! May the 4th be with you! #PalmerLibraryAK
April was Super Heroes or Super Villains day. Fortunately we had plenty of heroes. Super Mom, Super Grandma, Underdog, Wonder Woman, Huntress, and Arachne were on hand to battle the only Super Villain of the day: PROcrastinator!
Thursday, April 13 brought author, Gail Carriger to the Palmer Library! Ms. Carriger presented a selection of her work to the library on behalf of Alaska Steamposium's Battle of the Bustle charity event. The Alaska Steamposium is a Steampunk centered convention for fans of the genre, held each year in Anchorage. The convention committee competes with each other for the bragging rights of having the biggest and best bustle. Convention attendees vote for their favorite ensemble, and all the money is given to charity. This year, the challenge was to make a dress based on the cover of one of Gail's books. Someone, who may just happen to work at the Palmer Library, colored outside the lines and made a dress with several covers of Gail's books! The outfit was brimming with "easter eggs" from Gail's stories, from Percy's book written by a Lefoux, to Ivy Tunstell's label on the hat, to real dandelion fluff on a spoon!
