The friendly folks from the Eagle River Nature Center were on hand to present a workshop all about bugs! Our SRP kids cringed, and oohed and awed, and loved it.
On Wednesday, June 7 comedian & magician, Alex Zerbe, was in the house! We had a standing room only oozing out into the hallway crowd of extremely enthusiastic summer reading participants. Alex's zany show was a hit with young and old alike!
Saturday, June 10 was Palmer's annual Colony Days parade. The library truck was full of goodies to hand out to the kids. We had several volunteers, and staff on hand to show off our program banners, costumes, and community spirit!
We've got fun Summer Reading Program FAQ's coming your way! Each week we'll hide a new FAQ somewhere on pplak.org for you to find. Have fun exploring the website in our electronic scavenger hunt!
The Palmer Library is your Summer Reading headquarters! We're gearing up for another exciting summer of reading challenges, geocache adventures, and more! Stay tuned.
Summer Reading at the Palmer Library culminated in a festive bash. On Thursday, July 28th, nearly 300 readers joined us in celebrating their literacy efforts over the summer. Party goers were treated to a photo booth, bounce house, crazy hair, face painting, crafts, a picnic and more! This celebration was made especially sweet, as it capped off a successful summer of programs promoting literacy. We would not be able to offer the fun we do without the support of local civic organizations. Special thank you to our local Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Matanuska Masons, Beta Sigma Psi, and FRIENDS of the Palmer Library. We are also grateful to the MTA Events Center for providing several skating passes as prize giveaways. THANK YOU!!
Bikes, helmets, and locks generously provided by the Matanuska Masonic Foundation!
